Transcript: "Exercise with a Buddy"

Patricia Grady, Ph.D.
Director, National Institute of Nursing Research:

We know that it's difficult to start new habits often. And for people who don't regularly exercise and haven't started as a youngster a good way to start is to find someone else to exercise with. (Grady and friend jog up road.) Either individually, a friend or a neighbor, or to join a group such as aerobic dancing or courses at the Y. Once you start exercising most people enjoy it so much that they tend to continue it. It's just getting started and starting a new habit that is sometimes a challenge.
