Hearing Loss
Treatment and Research
Many people who have a hearing loss wear a hearing aid. A hearing
aid is an electronic, battery-operated device that makes sounds
louder to the wearer. Unfortunately, only 16 to 17 percent of
adults ages 20 to 69 years with hearing loss have used hearing
aids, while 25 to 29 percent of adults ages 70 years and older with
hearing loss have used hearing aids.
