Frequently Asked Questions
12. When should I call my doctor?
Before you leave the hospital, your doctor should give you specific instructions on when to call, but certainly you should call if you notice any warning signs of possible complications. These would include tenderness, redness and swelling of your calf, or swelling of your thigh, ankle, or foot, which could indicate a blood clot. Other possible complications include fever, chills, tenderness and swelling or drainage of the wound, which could signal infection.
