Frequently Asked Questions
27. What is co-insurance?
Co-insurance is the amount a person may be required to pay for
services after paying any plan deductibles. In Original Medicare,
this is a percentage (about 20%) of the Medicare-approved amount.
The person will have to pay this amount after paying the deductible
for Part A and/or Part B. In a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, the
co-insurance will vary depending on how much the person has
spent.
