16. What kind of financial help is available to help with Medicare prescription drug costs?

People with Medicare who have limited income and resources may get extra help to cover prescription drugs for little or no cost. If you think the person may qualify for extra help, call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213, visit http://www.ssa.gov, or contact your State Medical Assistance (Medicaid) office. TTY users should call 1-800-325-0778.

Several states have State Pharmacy Assistance Programs (SPAPs) that help people who qualify pay for prescription drugs. To find out about the SPAPs in your state visit www.medicare.gov, click on forms, help,& resources, select “get help paying costs” and click on “Medicare Savings Programs” or call 1-800-Medicare (1-800-633-4227). TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048.
