Researchers funded by the National Institute of Neurological
Disorders and Stroke are gathering information and DNA samples from
hundreds of families with members who have Parkinson's and are
conducting large-scale studies to identify gene variants that are
associated with increased risk of developing the disease. They are
also comparing gene activity in Parkinson's with gene activity in
similar diseases such as progressive supranuclear palsy.
